More Easter Chicks

Hey everybody!  I told you I had more of this little guy.  He's just so cute.  I kept playing with the SSS March card kit.  There was a little bit more yellow paper to try.  I thought I might try a CAS card with him and then one a little more frou frou.   Here's what I came up with.

I cut the top white daisy piece with a die from Stitched Borders 1 by Pretty Pink Posh.  The yellow polka dotted paper is from March card kit.  I thought maybe this one didn't have to be an Easter card.  I wrote "hey chick!" since I wasn't sure what sentiment I wanted to use.  I still don't have a Happy Easter one.  I figured I would send this one to a girl friend for Easter and simply write something Eastery on the inside.

On this one I went with a 5.5x5.5 card.  The checkered paper is from the Confetti Wishes paper pack from CTMH.  The cardstock is Canary, also CTMH.  The polka dotted paper is from the SSS March card kit.  I punched out some little flowers and layered them.  The leaves are Cricut cuts in Pear cardstock that I had in my stash.  I just thought it needed something to break up all that yellow.  I still think  it needs more something, but I'm not sure what just yet.  I tried bling, but that didn't quite work.  Just not sure.

That's it for me tonight.  I'm going to link this little guy to the Anything Goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Blog Challenge.  There is a ton of beautiful cards over there if you haven't checked it out yet.

Thanks for stopping by!

Easter Chick

Hello everyone!  I thought I was through with the SSS March card kit, but the more I looked at that yellow, the more ideas I had.  I found a little Easter Chick I had actually gotten from a friend for Christmas.  I had to take advantage of all the yellow.

The shimmery yellow paper and the polka dot paper are from the card kit.   I used the small flowers from the Flowers on My Mind stamp set that came with the kit to make the background.  I used CTMH Canary ink.  I colored my little chick with Copic markers.  I realized I didn't have a Happy Easter sentiment, so I ended up printing one out and then using the SSS Tilted Banners die set to cut it out.  It's a little off, but was the best I could do with the printed sentiment and a tilted banner..lol.  I used some more of the yellow ribbon from my stash to make a little bow.

I stamped out several images of this little chick, so you will probably be seeing him some more.  Especially, since it's coming up on Easter.

The Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp has an "Anything Goes" challenge this week.  I think I shall post my little chick over there.  There is always some lovely art and inspiration over there, so be sure you go check them out.

That's it for me tonight.  I hope everyone has a lovely upcoming week.  Thanks for stopping by!

SSS March Card Kit - Vintage Card

Hello everyone!  Here's another card from the March SSS card kit.  Included in the kit are these great journaling cards from Authentique that coordinate beautifully with the papers, also from Authentique.  One of these cards was a gorgeous  portrait of a lady.  When I saw it I knew I wanted to use it.  I love the vintage style, but it is definitely not my forte.  This is the card I came up with.

Isn't she just lovely? I cut the card base from some of the ivory cardstock included in the kit.  It's a standard top fold base.  The patterned papers are from the kit.  I used Spellbinders Labels 8 set to die cut the journaling card and the paper behind it.  I distressed the corners slightly with Vintage Photo distress ink.  It just so happened I had some little yellow roses, and a butterfly I had previously punched, in my stash.   The pins and the pearl swirls are retired embellishments from CTMH. I used some of my leftover ribbon from my first card to make a little bow to finish her off.

I left off the sentiment on this card because I wasn't sure exactly what occasion I wanted to use it for.  I may go back later and add one if I decide.   A "thinking of you" or even a Mother's Day sentiment had crossed my mind.

That's the last card so far from this kit.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Flowers on My Mind

Hello everyone!  Just a quick post to share with you another card I created using the SSS March Card Kit.

This card was made with scraps from my card in the previous post.  The black strip was what was left after die cutting the scalloped piece for the earlier card. The flowers, leaves, and sentiment are all from the stamp set included in the kit, Flowers on My Mind.  The leaves were stamped in Flaxen and the centers were stamped in Canary, everything else is Black.   I added a few black enamel dots from a previous kit and that was it.  Very simple card.

Thanks for stopping by.  I have one more card to share from this kit, which is my attempt at vintage.  Be sure to stop back by.

Simson Says Stamp March Card Kit

Hello my blog friends!  Long time no see.  I took a little unexpected break from the blog world, but I'm back!  Since the holidays,  things have been a little chaotic and I haven't had any time to really play in my craft room.  I have had a few card kits that I had not even opened.  I made it my mission to find time to explore this month's card kit. This is the first card I made.

The flowers were stamped from the set that comes with the kit, Flowers on My Mind.  The flowers were stamped in Canary and the stems in Flaxen, both newer colors from CTMH.  The card base is a Colonial White card base from CTMH used horizontally.   The patterned paper is included in the kit.

The kit also comes with a neat dot border die called Medium Dot Line, from SSS.  I cut the black cardstock with the scalloped border from Pretty Pink Posh's Stitched Borders 1.  Then I used the included die to cut the holes out along the strip after adhering it to the card base.  Using some thin yellow ribbon from my stash I wove it through the card and tied a bow.

This is the first card I have made since Valentine's Day. I think I was going through withdrawals!  I may have to come back and share the VD cards that I had made.  I have a couple of more cards that I made from the kit, too,  I'll be sure to share with you.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by!
